Descloizite is relatively uncommon from Colorado, but cuprian descloizite from Gilpin County is unheard of! The showy, hefty, boxwork ore matrix hosts numerous vugs lined with sparkly, brown, cuprian descloizite botryoids. The large, prominent vug is 3.0 cm across. Another vug is filled with oxide-coated botryoids. This unique, old-timer comes with an expertly handwritten, faded label from an older collection. The collection this came out of was a museum stash dating to prior to World War I.
