A colorful and very good Tsumeb Cuprite with Calcite thumbnail from this classic locality. A cluster of a dozen or so, well-formed dodecahedral, deep red Cuprite crystals to 6 mm monopolize one end of the piece with a few other Cuprite crystals on the other end. All of the Cuprites are just slightly translucent and have a subtle deep red glow due to their slight translucence. Between the Cuprites is a swath of tiny, glittering, bright, medium green crystals of what are labeled as Cuprian Calcite although by our closer scrutiny they appear to Calcites with micro Malachite inclusions to give the crystals their beautiful green color and they provide great contrast and composition to this piece.
