Cyanotrichite with Chalcoalumite and Brochantite (classic material)

Item Description

This is a fantastic association specimen from this extinct mine that existed inside of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. This small cabinet sized piece features dozens of excellent, beautiful, intense blue color, acicular (needle-like) radiating aggregates or "sprays" of the copper aluminum sulfate, with minor emerald green Brochantite and powder blue Chalcoalumite matrix. The needles of Cyanotrichite are very delicate, but they are equally stunning to view. You can see that we've provided some great micro photos of what these crystals look like up close. Please note that there have been almost NO specimens from this locality available on the market for a very long time, and this piece found in the mid 1960's. Well-crystallized specimens like this one are few and far between on the market today. A rare opportunity to own a unique and attractive species from one of the more interesting localities in the United States.
From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
