Item Description

I would guess that most gem collectors do not have a Danburite in their collections from Tanzania, and it's a shame because this uncommon boro-silicate is certainly brings more to the table than people might expect. Of course there are the superb gem quality crystals from Charcas, Mexico that produce excellent faceted stones, but we have something here that is arguably more desirable. This stone is an unusual color for Danburite, as we typically don't see yellow gems from any locality. I was legitimately surprised that this was in fact a Danburite, I would have guessed something like Chrysoberyl or Beryl. I can only remember seeing a few others in my life, and they were from Madagascar, and this is one of the few we've ever had to offer from Tanzania. The stone has a "Brilliant Oval" and nearly eye clean clarity.
