Item Description

A classic Dalnegorsk Datolite specimen featuring a cluster of sharp, well-formed, blocky, very soft green colored, lustrous crystals of Datolite measuring up to 3.0 cm with minor associated Quartz prisms on a small amount of matrix. The crystals are tightly intergrown in areas, so the piece is a bit difficult to photograph, but you can clearly see the two most prominent crystals sitting at the top of the piece. Many of the crystals are actually quite gemmy when backlit, nearly water clear in areas. Good condition for the most part, but a few dings can be seen here and there. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11534). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
