Item Description

Mineral specimens of ANY variety are RARE from this obscure district in the famous Sierra Nevada East Gold Belt. MINDAT features no photos for the District and the Grizzly Ridge Quartz Mine is not listed. This is a pristine unique and unique looking floater two-sided doubly terminated large compound quartz crystal. The glassy crystals are mostly translucent with a few transparent areas and are highly lustrous. The dominating large upright stepped-growth central crystal on one side, at 6.7 x 4.8 cm, is also doubly terminated, adding much character. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection. Bob is a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. An ultimate and unique looking rare large California quartz from El Dorado County. Note added by courtesy of a viewer: In the description it lists grizzly ridge quartz mine.  I’m pretty sure that is the same as what is now called Jaybird quarry.  See links (http://www.volcano.net/~earthquest/, https://thisoldrock.com/)
