Item Description

Rich yellow SW UV fluorescence on this aesthetic and sculptural thumbnail cluster of zircon crystals from the well-known exotic alkaline Kipawa intrusive complex of Quebec. The sharp, lustrous brown, striated crystals are dominated by the impressive 3.2 cm doubly terminated tetragonal-dipyramidal crystal. The Kipawa complex is known for sharp zircon crystals, but they are uncommon and seldom avaiable. Zircon attributable to the Sheffield Lake prospect are RARE, as MINDAT does not list the species for the locale. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 1999 from Ray Vajdak, a well-known rarities specialist.
