Tourmaline (Doubly Terminated) with Albite

Mere mention of the name 'stak nala' evokes visions of multi-colored Elbaites, and justifiably so. This 7.6 cm, doubly-terminated, Elbaite crystal grades from a deep green to light green to colorless to pink at the termination. Color patterns like this, as the chemistry of the original fluids changed, are absolutely classic for old finds here from the 1980s. With its rich pink color and complex, lustrous faces, the main termination is instantly recognizable. The prism faces are lustrous and striated, and the little bit of wear (pegmatite mining is tough) detracts little from the attractive aesthetics of this small cabinet piece.
