Elbaite Tourmaline with Albite and Muscovite

Item Description

This is a large pegmatite combination plate from Pederneira Mine with abundant Albite var. Cleavelandite, stout Indicolite Tourmaline crystals and a large glassy Quartz crystal. The piece is dominated by large, coarse rosettes of off-white bladed Cleavelandite that are lightly laces with 1 to 2 cm long and 2 to 3 mm wide Tourmaline crystals among the Cleavelandite blades. The left side of the piece is dominated by stout Indicolite and Quartz crystals. The Indicolite measures 3.5 cm long and 2.7 cm across, with lustrous, lightly striated prism faces and then capped by a flat pedion termination that displays a satin luster. There are a couple of barely discernible sidecar crystals in parallel growth. The super glassy, mostly transparent robust Quartz crystal measures 6.5 cm tall and 4 cm across with a perfect termination! There are a few Tourmaline crystals growing within the Quartz crystal up from the bottom that are somewhat evident looking through the crystal and more apparent from the side and back. A great pegmatite combination piece from earlier production at the Pederneira Mine.
