Elbaite Tourmaline with Quartz

Item Description

This is an attractive pegmatite combination specimen of Tourmaline and Quartz from the Pederneira Mine. A gorgeous, robust, and almost surreal, clear to slightly translucent Quartz crystal is host to numerous gemmy and lustrous, green Tourmaline crystals. There must be a dozen Verdelite Tourmalines embedded on and in the big, glassy Quartz crystal. The Tourmalines on the top and within the Quartz are from 1.5 to 5 cm long and nearly 1 cm thick and quite gemmy! The two main crystals at the top of the Quartz are terminated as are ones inside the Quartz crystals, but other ends are not. Ones on the backside of the Quartz are clustered haphazardly together and are mostly short and stubby, but still gemmy! Most of these are not terminated. The large Quartz crystal has a small, terminated, 3.7 cm sidecar crystal in parallel growth to add to the already great aesthetics of the piece!
