Item Description

For years, the finest gem grade Emeralds in the world came from Colombia. The superb color, size and clarity of these gems put them at the apex of the world market. Recently, there have been some discoveries of gem quality Emerald in the Kafubu Emerald Mining District of Zambia that rival the best of what Colombia has to offer. This new Zambian material is limited in comparison to the amount available from Colombia, which only has increased demand for collectors hungry to get their hands on this exciting and beautiful material. Here we have a wonderful matched set of "emerald" cut stones, both showing an intense vanadium green hue, similar to a deep green seen in Tsavorite. The stones are very gemmy and vibrant, but not completely clean. With that said, it's important to note that Emerald is classified as a Type-3 gemstone, and inclusions are always present and accepted by dealers and collectors, so the clarity in these stones is much better than the majority of faceted Emeralds out there. The color is very difficult to accurately reproduce in the photos, but it's deep and intense in person. Very little of this material seems to be coming out in the last few years, so if you missed your chance to get your hands on this material when they first came out, don't pass up this opportunity to get a pair of fine quality gems for a great price. Obviously, this set would make for a wonderful pair of earrings, or a great gift for anybody with a birthday in May, as Emerald is the birthstone for that month. This set is priced at $3,740 retail for the color, quality, rare locality and the fact that it's a matched pair.
