An impressive and rare large emerald combination from the Muzo Mine, renowned for some of the best emeralds in the world. A classic 1.3 cm, gemmy/translucent, lustrous, terminated hexagonal emerald crystal and a fabulous, lightly iridescent, 1.5 cm, brilliant brass-yellow compound pyritohedron are dramatically and artistically set close to each other on the striking, contrasting, thick vein of massive bone-white calcite. The terminated 8 mm emerald crystal on the edge is a super accessory. Seldom do you see such balanced combinations with both isolated species on a large calcite section from any Colombian locale. Modest pink LW UV calcite fluorescence. The UV light shows, that the three crystals have been stabilized onto the calcite with glue. We believe through close examination of the crystals, that the piece has not been manufactured, and the crystals are in their natural settings but only stabilized. Ex Chester Lemanski Collection. We just acquired his large collection. Read about Chester at his mindat.org Home Page: https://www.mindat.org/user-461.html. An exceptional emerald, pyrite and calcite from Muzo.
