Item Description

Fluellite is a rare aluminum fluoro-hydroxyl phosphate, and the best examples of the species known are those from the Willard Mine in Nevada. This piece features many sharp, well-formed, lustrous, translucent white to gem-clear orthorhombic crystals. What makes this piece significant is that the 1.5 mm crystals are sharp and euhedral, not small, rounded or non-descript, like you can find from other world localities. Associated with the Fluellite are two generations of Wavellite. The first generation are 1.5 mm balls of mint green (it is tempting to think these are Variscite on first glance), and the second generation are larger balls up to 8 mm. These show the classic radial growth so often thought of when you think of Wavellite. The crystals on this specimen are not only high quality, but they are eye-visible, not micros. Rare!
