Item Description

Here is a fine, small cabinet specimen of colorless to soft-green Fluorapatites from the famous Sapo Mine in Brazil. These crystals have a singular appearance with a compressed, prismatic form, but still showing very sharp, highly lustrous faces with nice translucency. They seem to have grown around an internal, narrow stalk, creating a near-hollow growth. But which came first, the core or the Fluorapatite stalk, we are really not sure. But we are sure about is how unique and unusual the growth pattern is. Unsurprisingly, these were quite the attention-getters when they first appeared at Munich 2007, and it seems that Sapo may never produce these attractive specimens of unusual Fluorapatite again. Formerly a Luiz Menezes specimen, this is a particularly elegant example of the style
