Item Description

Riemvasmaak Fluorites are among the greatest examples of the species to come out of any locality in the last 20 years. The combination of the INTENSE green color combined with the large textbook octahedral crystals is breathtaking. Additionally, this locality produced many large cabinet sized display specimens, which is not commonly seen when it comes to good crystallized Fluorites. This large cabinet is one of the showiest and most striking pieces we've had to offer in this size category. Dozens of very sharp, lustrous, rather gemmy, rich green colored octahedra measuring up to 3.3 cm on edge (4.2 cm if you measure across the width of the largest composite crystal) are intergrown free of matrix to create a very attractive and fine quality example of this now classic material. Yes, the color of the crystals is that strong emerald green hue, but there is a bit of what I believe to be iron oxide inside some of the Fluorites which creates a starkly contrasting fiery reddish hue when backlit. Nearly every crystal on the display side is in superb condition, although I have to point out that there is a small nick / ding on the top most Fluorite crystal, but it's pretty small, so you can't see it unless you're close up. The piece comes with a FREE custom acrylic base for easy display. Priced in the inventory at $7,500 for the size, quality, gemminess, form and the fact that it is a striking large cabinet display specimen of this beautiful material.
