Item Description

While Fluorite is by no means rare worldwide, it is nearly impossible to get your hands on a piece of Fluorite from Sterling Hill. This cabinet sized specimen features dozens if not hundreds of tiny (micro), colorless cubic Fluorite crystals which are associated with black Hetearolite along with some micro red Zincite, and pinkish-tan crystals of Willemite along with a brownish-tan mineral that could possibly be Hodgkinsonite. There is also a bit of iridescent "peacock" colored oxidation in areas, though we cannot say which species this could be. The piece GLOWS with electric green fluorescence as you can see from the photos, though I cannot say if this is only from the Willemite or if the Fluorite is fluorescent as well. The piece is accompanied by a label from noted Franklin mineral dealers Ewald and Helen Gerstmann, and was valued at $35.00 (!) back in the day, which was a notably high price for a Franklin specimen. We also value this one highly as a cabinet sized specimen of Fluorite from Franklin is practically unheard of. If you collect Franklin minerals, this is a great opportunity to get your hands on a larger specimen of a species rarely seen from Sterling Hill.
