A wonderful small cabinet sized specimen of these beautiful notably eye-catching and starkly contrasting Fluorite on Quartz specimens. This piece was mined circa 2012 and is a great example of these distinctive and certainly unique specimens. The piece is filled with intense blue colored Fluorite crystals showing primarily cubic and dodecahedral faces, but there are many smaller modifying faces all over that give them such a differentiating appearance. The Fluorites might actually be "too dark", were it not for the fact that they formed on bright white Quartz crystal matrix, creating a beautiful color combination. The majority of the Fluorites on this specimen are in good shape, though some are contacted, so it's not 100% pristine. The largest individual Fluorite measures 1.5 cm on edge. When backlit, the crystals show a vibrant hue color, with slight purple spots here and there. Overall a really attractive and showy piece of these excellent specimens from the Huanggang Mine. Valued at $1,500. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#733 C), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
