Item Description

A rare and showy old-time combination small cabinet from the famous Alston Moor District. Pretty light green, transparent to translucent fluorite cubes with glass-clear to satin lustre faces richly and attractively cover the small cabinet matrix of massive ankerite. The large cube is 2.0 x 2.0 x 1.3 cm. Scattered sharp, rust-brown saddle-shaped ankerite crystals peering out among the green fluorite cubes add color and contrast. Bright blue-purple fluorescence. Bruising is noted on this undoubtedly an old-time piece, with no proof. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 1995. This piece was formerly in the Smithsonian collection, according to Chet's catalogue. Green fluorite with ankerite is RARE from Alston Moor.
