Item Description

Glassy, lustrous, transparent to translucent, bi-colored green modified fluorite cubes, to about 2.2 cm, have interesting preferential iron oxide coatings. The mounded fluorites are intermixed and rest on bladed and drusy barite. Fluorite and barite combinations of this richness and quality are RARE from this well-known extinct fluorite mine. Purple fluorescence. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 3626 and acquired in the mid-1960s. The rare piece was found in 1963. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Remarkable and seldom on the market in this quality.
