Fluorite with Barite and Calcite (near "floater" specimen) (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Here we have a wonderful showy small cabinet display specimen featuring gemmy, greenish-yellow cubes of Fluorite which have a slight amount of a beautifully contrasting reddish iron oxide (Specularite) coating associated with attractive bladed of cream colored Barite and small gemmy, prismatic scalenohedral crystals of pale golden colored Calcite. The most interesting aspect of the piece is the fact that it's not broken on the back or the bottom, it's actually healed ("re-healed") and fully re-crystallized, so it's nearly a perfect "floater" specimen. I can see a very small point of attachment / contact, so I can't say the piece is 100% crystallized all the way around, but it's really close. I don't think I've seen a piece quite like this from the Erika Mine, and it would make a great addition to any worldwide Fluorite suite or a collection of German classics. Very good quality all around with no major damage. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3128). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
