Fluorite with Calcite

Gorgeous, gem emerald-green fluorite cubes are aesthetically clustered on the sculptural large mounded plate and are dramatically complemented by the rich covering of snow-white calcite. The classic gem penetration twin on the upper left is 2.5 cm across and the intergrown pair right of center are 2.0 cm across. The very glassy cubes have some scattered areas of white translucence. Crystal faces are glass-clear to satin luster to frosted. Interesting crystal chemistry here. This striking specimen is from the aptly named 2018 "Queen of Green" pocket at the Diana Maria Mine in the famous Rogerley Quarry. The cubes fluoresce under any bright light. Bright blue-purple fluorescence! Fluorites in the interior are pristine. The white material was originally called aragonite until determined to be calcite. Valued by the former dealer at $4000 (Crystal Cellar label). An excellent, very showy, highly representative and large combination example of the find and locale.
