Item Description

A wonderful cabinet sized piece from the Shangbao Mine. The Fluorites from this locality are some of the most distinctive, eye-catching and highest quality examples from any Chinese locality. This piece hosts a pair of beautiful, sharp, lustrous, gemmy purple crystals with cubic and dodecahedral faces measuring up to 2.8 cm on edge with pinkish colored curved rhombic Dolomite with minor "needle" Quartz on matrix . I really can't find any damage of note, just a bit of partial intergrown Dolomite on the back edges of the Fluorites. Showy and three-dimensional. This material will go down as some of the finest that China has produced in terms of size, displayability, showiness and quality. Valued at $1,500 in the inventory. Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection.
