Fluorite with incipient gem corners

Excellent example of the renowned fluorites from the famous Elmwood Mine, with a rare style that seems to occur almos tnowhere else, of "gem corners"... This 4.4 cm crystal is a light amber color with distinct purple edges, and the faces are gently stepped. One of the classic and sought after characteristics of many Elmwood Fluorites are these gemmy, glassy corners, and all four on this crystal have 'windows' from that effect, caused by some kind of differential solution effects in the pocket, right after they form. Many etch out entirely (etching is the wrong word, technically, but that is what it looks like and conveys the idea) into floaters of these weird corners of gem cubes, floating on stalks like an eyeball atop a nerve from some cartoon. This is a particularly fine specimen as it shows teh corners as they begin, before deep channels are formed that separate them and remove the cubic center of the crystal, leaving loose shards in the pocket. It is a really rare event, caught here in Pause mode! On top of that, the Fluorite has a rich, vivid fluorescence. This is a choice cabinet specimen that has superb aesthetics and presents beautifully, corners aside. We value this highly, as a rare classic from the 1970s-1980s heyday of this, one of the single most important USA localities ever. valued $2500-plus
