Fortification Galena on chert (old USA style)

Item Description

This is an old TriState mining district classic, we seldom see today, featuring stacked "fortification style" galena growths on a shard of chert matrix (chert is similar to flint). Unlike most, which are blocky and ugly matrix, this is beautiful and serves as a perch for vertical display of the 6-cm-tall galena cluster. Ol d material from probably the 1920s-1950, and rare in such nice display form. Keith Williams personal collection (Keith is a retired dealer, known for his taste in aesthetic miniatures, USA classics, and Colorado material. He was one of the first to bring out Bulgarian material in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and a dealer for perhaps 50 years. )
