Item Description

A very rare example of Fourmarierite from the type locality, the Shinkolobwe Mine in DR Congo. These specimens came out man years ago, and they are virtually impossible to get your hands on unless you find one in an old collection. This miniature specimen features brilliant, sharp, gemmy, fine orange-red colored micro crystals of Fourmarierite associated with white Studtite sitting on yellow Uranophane on black Uraninite matrix. The Shinkolobwe Mine is actually the type locality for Studtite as well, so you have two species together from the first place they were ever observed. We have photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. If you collect rarities or minerals from Shinkolobwe, don't miss out on this one because it's one of just a few we've ever had to offer in many years of selling minerals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11484). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
