Galena on unusual "cast" (old classic) (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

A fantastic old specimen of Galena from the famous Freiberg Silver District in Germany. This piece features dozens of very sharp, well-formed, lustrous, gun metal grey colored cuboctahedral crystals of Galena measuring up to 1.5 cm on edge beautifully sitting on the underlying matrix. As a matter of fact, when you flip the piece over, you can see that the Galena crystals formed on an unusual partial "cast", which is highly unusual for this area. I can't quite remember seeing another piece like this from Freiberg. Additionally, just to add to the intrigue, there are some micro yellow crystals of an unknown species on the piece. If anybody out there has some insight as to what this yellow mineral might be, please let us know. A really cool and unusual Galena that would make a great addition to any sulfide suite, a collection of German minerals, or old classics. Valued at $650. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
