Item Description

Beautiful, gemmy, multi-hued, glassy and lustrous, Sphalerite twins, to 1.4 cm, are dramatically set on the sculptural striking matrix plate of Barite blades coated with sparkly drusy Quartz. A few scattered, corroded, metallic-gray Galena crystals are a super accessory on this VERY RARE and excellent combination from this much less well-known silver and polymetallic mine in Peru. MINDAT lists Sphalerite, Baryte and Galena for the locality, but there are NO examples in the locality Photo Gallery. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 1997. Imported by reputable South American specialist Skip Szenics, according to Chet's catalogue. A rare, perhaps UNIQUE and exceptionally showy combination from the locale.
