Item Description

An incredibly rare micro specimen of the lead arsenite species Georgiadesite and the lead halide specimens Paraluaronite from the famous historic Lavrion slag localities in Greece. Georgiadesite was named in 1896 and was named in honor of the former director of the mines at Lavrion (Laurium) Greece. Paralaurionite is actually a member of the Matlockite Group, and is a polymorph of Laurionite. This piece features a few small vugs of host rock which features bright white / colorless bladed crystals of Georgiadesite associated with thin prismatic, "lath"-like crystals of Paralaurionite. The crystals are superb quality, but they need to be viewed at least with a loupe if not a microscope. With that said, we have photographed them with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate their quality. A must have for any fan of rare species, micro minerals or minerals from the type locality, as both Georgiadesite and Paraluaronite were first discovered at Lavrion.
