Item Description

A lovely miniature sized piece hosting attractive, lustrous, soft peachy-orange colored crystals of Gmelinite-(Ca) measuring up to 6 mm on drusy grey Quartz matrix from the Kola Peninsula in Russia. I can see a few light tan colored bladed groups of Stilbite on the piece as well. Gmelinite is a rare zeolite species, named after Christian Gmelin a German mineralogist in 1825. From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased.
