Several years ago, complex, well-formed gold specimens emerged from an unexpected locality in the Mato Grosso state. These crystallized specimens featured a wide variety of formations, including elongated and hoppered crystal growths. Down the length of the crystal, a hoppered formation forms like a spine, with ribs branching off to either side, in a bright, metallic luster. The finds from Serra de Caldeirao are now recognized to be amongst the world's best crystalline golds. 6.3g, a robust and very 3-dimensional thumbnail crystal of the find. No more are coming out.
