This specimen of gold in quartz showcases bright, metallic crystalline gold on both sides of the specimen. The front side has a bit of gold that protrudes 1.5cm from the quartz matrix. Kenton Mine ceased significant production in 1892, with occasional reopenings several times since then, so it's safe to say this is either a very old specimen, or one brought out during a sporadic mining attempt since. At 0.51oz gold content, this has just under $900 in gold value alone here...the beauty of the specimen above that. From a small collection of golds recently broken up and sold by a well known local Dallas dealer in gold specimens. Note his previous label, marked $2500 (generally fair for sparkly crystalline gold in matrix, in the 3-5x spot range)
