Gold in Quartz (Chet Lemanski Coll.)

Item Description

A splendent, sculptural, rich yellow, 1.3 cm gold leaf is beautifully set atop the blocky milky quartz matrix on this showy and excellent miniature from this well-known California gold mine. The original Harvard Au-Ag underground mine first produced in 1891. It became part of Jamestown Group of mines from 1986 to 1994 with open pit mining. The Group mines closed in 1994, but most subsequent finds were labeled as coming from the Harvard Mine.
