This sculptural, bright and dramatic Gold specimen from the famous historic workings at the Colorado Quartz Mine has an elegant "flame" of gold rising up from the contrasting white Quartz matrix that now serves as a natural pedestal for display. This is a typical association from this classic locality but it is particularly well balanced in aesthetics and size, the lower portion securely encased in just the right amount of matrix to display it without overwhelming the gold with weight and size. It is superbly prepared, and without repairs or damage. This was in a private collection in the Phoenix area since the 1990s, and has a special luster and quality to the crystals that is simply obvious in person, and to which the best specimens of this mine aspire. Many people consider such crystalline gold to be among the finest in the world for beauty and quality, of these crystals, when they are at their best. This small cabinet specimen is a particularly elegant example from this or any locality! Custom base included. This has not been on the market publicly, and, for the size range, is simply breathtaking in detail and color, in person. Such specimens at this level of quality, could easily be valued in the $15000-plus range.
