Item Description

Hambergite is a rare beryllium borate species, most often seen from pegmatite localities, and seldom seen in fine crystallized examples. This piece is to the best of my memory, the finest example we've ever seen from this particular locality. This large thumbnail specimen is an incredibly hard to find crystal of sharp, lustrous, well-formed, slightly translucent, white to colorless Hambergite from The Rangkul Pegmatite Field in Tajikistan. This crystal has distinct, euhedral faces, which is hard to find in smaller crystals, but this one is over 3 cm(!), so it's big deal for the species and the locality. The front and sides are in very good shape, and even though the piece is not complete on the back, it's still a truly impressive example from this obscure locality. Please check out the accompanying video with this piece, to get the full effect. From the collection of Shields Flynn.
