Item Description

Hectorite is a rare sodium magnesium lithium fluoro silicate species, only found in about 15 localities in the United States. With that said, this piece is labeled as coming from the Stewart Lithia Mine, but I cannot find a listing for this species from this locality in any database. Perhaps its from one of the Hectorite localities in San Bernardino County, but I cannot say for certain. If there are any experts out there who can give us some insight as to the actual origin of this piece, please reach out and let us know. Typically Hectorite is a soft cream color or a light golden hue, but this one is notably pink, stronger than anything I could find online for comparison. A cool specimen with excellent color for the species. From the collection of Shields Flynn.
