Item Description

A highly unusual, strangely shaped, combination CABINET specimen from the famous iron mines of Egremont, England. Pink, crested, barite blades are sheathed in a dramatic boxwork of specular hematite, which in turn, is coated with a quartz druse, giving the hematite the super-sparkly look. I have never seen an English barite with this type of hematite/quartz association. Strange, but very nifty!! This probable old-timer, from from the very much less well-known Haile Moor Mine is from the J.G. Dixon and John Ydren Collections. Valued at $500 though I have sene people pay incredible sums, in English pound currency, for oddities such as this from the famous Haile Moor locale.
