Item Description
Here is a superb, non-Alpine "Iron Rose" of Hematite from the classic Ouro Preto area of Brazil that is exactly one inch across. Ouro Preto has produced some great Hematite specimens, but perhaps some of the best are miniatures and thumbnails that show perfection in form like this one. The hexagonal blades on this specimen have excellent, splendent metallic, steel-gray, concentric faces forming the classic "rose" shape that makes these specimens so desirable. The faces have mirror-like luster and reflectivity and the piece is complete on all sides, save one thin area at the bottom that must have been a subtle point of attachment. Both sides of the piece are exceptional. This is a FABULOUS and competitive level thumbnail speciment from a competitive thumbnail collector. It is Brazilian, but of "Swiss quality."
