Item Description

This crazy-looking cluster of doubly-terminated crystals came form the earlier finds here, in the late 1990s, and was purchased for its unique architecture form a crowd of pieces available at that time. It was purchased by Dr. Ed David, former science advisor to President Nixon and a chair of the White House Science Office, for $2500 (and carries a Cal Greaeber label for $2750), and he owned it until 2005 when sold to me at his cost along with the bulk of his second collection. True, more have come out since then, and prices have dropped a bit, but this remains aesthetic and interesting, novel for its complex geometry that creates a pocket in the middle of the piece. These look as if they were designed by Escher, this specimen more so than others of its ilk. Notably, also, the recently found material has a very different aesthetic to it, consisting of more discrete, pseudo-octohedral crystals compared to this very complex style found previously at the deposit. Catalogue number glued to the bottom.
