Item Description

A beautiful display specimen of the famous Hematite pseudomorphs after Marcasite from the White Desert. These pieces are found in the deep desert, near the border with Libya. Most of the pieces you'll see from this locality feature slender / elongated groups forming "star"-like bursts, and this is a great example of said material. The "arms" of the piece shoot out in all directions, giving the piece great three-dimensional form. The piece is essentially a complete "floater" with no real point of attachment that I can find. I love the fact that the original Marcasite crystals are still quite sharp and well-preserved after being replaced by the reddish-bronze colored Hematite. Ex Doxsee Collection.
