Item Description

An incredibly hard to find and incredibly beautiful display specimen from the recent 2018 discovery at an undisclosed locality in Myanmar which produced only a limited number of these stellar Hemimorphites. The front side of this small cabinet specimen is loaded with gorgeous glowing sky blue colored, gemmy, layered groups of Hemimorphite sitting on banded layers of blue to white Hemimorphite on the underside. It very likely that the color is due to copper content. Most of the blue Hemimorphite you see from around the world is typically opaque or barely translucent, but the best blue crystals on this specimen are rather gemmy. It is virtually impossible to get your hands on a specimen of Hemimorphite from any world locality with this color and excellent internal gemminess. I cannot find any damage anywhere on the piece outside of the edge where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. The luster is both sparkling and vitreous, and the piece displays wonderfully as you can see. With some backlighting, you can see the amazing glowing internal color and clarity, which somewhat reminds me of Smithsonite from the Kelly Mine or Willemite from Tsumeb. A fantastic, high quality specimen from this limited yet potentially world-class discovery. We had this one priced in our inventory at $4,500 for the impressive quality, great displayability and gorgeous color.
