This cavity hosts a beautiful sparkling layer of quartz, on which are several unusually well-isolated crystals of red-pink heulandite to just under 4 cm in size. These crystallized out of hot solutions trapped inside this former bubble in the volcanoes created when India and Asia merged, and sat there for a hundred million years. Such specimens are found in quantity today as people work the stone quarries for road and building material. Specimen collecting in the area has persisted since the 1980s. Although not really rare per se, this is a nice piece because the crystals are nicely isolated and displayed on contrast, where normally they occur as jumbled masses.
