Item Description

The world-famous Pederneira Mine has been producing some of the most iconic Tourmaline specimens in the world for decades. It is celebrated for the superior quality and size of crystals that are found in a rainbow of colors. This beautiful cabinet sized piece is a classic gemmy Indicolite tourmaline from circa 2010 finds. The highly lustrous, striated, steel-blue prismatic trigonal crystal is VERY GEMMY (and even WATER CLEAR in areas) and is complete all around. The piece is technically doubly-terminated as it features a pyramidal termination on one end, and the other end is recrystallized ("re-healed"). If you look closely, the main termination shows a slight yellow hue, which is not unheard of, but certainly rare for Tourmaline. There is one small separation mark near the top of the crystal where another Tourmaline once grew, but it's not truly damage. The piece has one clean repair, which is certainly acceptable in the context of these specimens, as nearly all of the bigger crystals from this mine have been repaired. VERY DIFFICULT to photograph correctly with the gemminess, glassiness, high luster and striations. MUCH better in person! Specimen weight is 34.98 grams. A fine, classic gem Pederneira Indicolite. Priced at $4,500 in the inventory.
