Item Description

Jade is one of the most popular "non gem quality" stones around. The material is often only translucent, but the beautiful color is what attracts collectors. This gem comes from an undisclosed locality in Russia, but what makes it all the more enticing is that it shows a slight "Cat's Eye" effect when it is viewed under a concentrated light. "Cat's Eye" Jade is not unheard of, but it's certainly not terribly common in my experience. If I had to guess, this stone is most likely Nephrite, but it's difficult to say for certain. This "Round Cabochon" cut gem has an olive green hue in reflected light, but more of a golden-green color in transmitted light. The stone is one of the only pieces of this material that we've seen, so don't miss out. A really cool stone for somebody who might want to set it into jewelry.
