Item Description

Scintillating silvery jackstraw mats of metallic, soft hair-like Jamesonite needles are festooned on all sides of this impressive large mounded combination specimen from the famous Noche Buena Mine in Zacatecas. Coated angular Arsenopyrite crystals project outward and totally cover the underlying quartz matrix beneath the Jamesonite needle carpet. Formerly in the Donald Gabriel Collection, who donated his 3500-piece collection to the Seaman Museum in 1987. Ex Dick Hauck Collection. Fine quality combination specimens of this type only came out in the 1960s, with very few since. A sculptural, classic and very rich large 360-degree combination example of the species and locale.
