Jouravskite on Xonotlite and Calcite

Sometimes a rarity is just scientifically interesting and sometimes they are just so freaking gorgeous that they shoot up everybody's want list, rare species or size aside. This mineral is such a case, where the shocking color just amazes people, and the chemistry and rarity is a bonus. THis is a significant small miniature from this important best-of-species pocket, with both crystal habits of jouravskite - the big euhedral xls and the small sugary sparkles! A combination of drusy, glassy and gemmy, lemon yellow jouravskite as well as measurable crystals to 5 mm across, of the same species, makes this a superb representation of this single pocket. The crystals nearly cover the display side of this specimen, with some white xonotlite peeking through. It is a small miniature, but extremely bright, sparkling, intensely saturated with color, and 3-dimensional. For the species, and in the price range in particular, this is simply an unprecedented find by any previous finds from nearby N'Chwaning 1 and 2 mines. The color is , in person, like a lemon peel or skin, made of glass! We were fortunate enough to be able to buy nearly the entire single pocket when it came out, and a piece such as this would have been priced at $1250-1500 even at the time - This is from one small pocket a few years ago in 2017, that is by FAR the best of species known.
