A striking , pristine, 10.7 cm, doubly terminated calcite scalenohedron is dramatically set on the crest of this impressive RARE large two-sided, two-generation calcite rib from a most obscure mine at famed Guanajuato. The sharp translucent crystals have frosted satin lustre faces and one side hosts many more larger second generation crystals, than the other, adding even more character. Secondary calcites reach 6.2 cm on the 'A" side. AND the core of the rib is amethsyt, a classic Guanajuato combination! Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a few lightly bruised, hard-to-see, crystal tips. Neon orange-pink fluorescence! Calcite and quartz are listed by MINDAT for the locale, but there are no examples in the Gallery and mineral specimens of ANY species are very rare from here. A superb and sculptural large calcite on amethyst from the locale. Ex Gary Weaver Collection and valued at $1500. Try to find another!
