Item Description

This is a huge specimen of the rare variety of apophyllite now knon as Hydroxyapophyllite-K , as scientists change how the group these species. Few large specimens have been available, and it is a shimmering piuece with a unique, pearl-like look to it. The densely intergrown, very glassy gemmy/translucent, colorless, tetragonal pseudocubic Hydroxyapophyllite crystals have a gorgeous pearly luster that make each crystal glow. The prisms reach 1.1 cm. This is an exceptional, sculptural and very rich large specimen from the famous Wessels Mine. Specimen of this size and quality are RARE from the Wessels. 1681 grams or 3.7 pounds mass. Ex Colin and Helga Owen Collection (local Kalahari dealers for decades). Rare in Cabinet size!
