Item Description

Lustrous, two-toned brown to tan siderite microcrystals have pseudomorphed a large densely intergrown and sculptural cluster of flattened "angel wing" calcite rhombohedrons. The dominating large pseudo is 4.2 cm across. The interior is pristine on this impressive specimen. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection No. 23178 and acquired in 2007. Siderite pseudomorphs after calcite are a classic species from this well-known historic lead-zinc deposit. This is an exceptional, rich and showy large example of siderite after well-defined flattened calcite rhombs. This is, for the style and locality, a large and beautiful example of the complex combination of minerals here.
