An impressive and very rich large two-sided specimen of Sodalite variety Hackmanite with accessories from the famed alkaline deposit Poudrette Quarry. Granular Hackmanite covers the upper portions of both sides of the piece. One side has a mixed layer of black Aegerine and white Nepheline crystals in the middle with calcite sections at the bottom The other side is solid Hackmanite above Calcite. Hackmanite is the sulfur-rich variety of Sodalite. The hackmanite fluoresces rich orange under LW UV light. The S content can give sodalite reversible photochromism or tenebrescence. It exhibits a purple-red colour subsequently to UV irradiation and bleaches back after a period of time (MINDAT). Hackmanite is fairly uncommon from this renowned locale and this is a rich Hackmanite and showy large combination of the species from the Chet Lemanski Collection. He acquired it in 1997.
