Item Description

Leadhillite is normally found within secondary deposits in arid areas and Tiger material is certainly very famous for old specimens of this sought after rare species. This uncommon lead, sulfate, carbonate, hydroxide occurs here as lovely, sky-blue, translucent bluish crystals (1-2 mm), associated with white Cerussite. There is also an associated dark blue mineral that I believe is Boleite, and this creates a nice contrast in what is a highly sought-after Tiger association. Essentially closed not long after WW2, this venerable old mine has, nevertheless, produced a plethora of fine secondary copper and lead minerals. This was recently deaccessed from the extensive collection of Bob Reynolds, who cherished both minerals and fossils as he collected. Bob is a prolific author and has had several curating positions in museums.
